Facebook Continues its Video Initiative with Latest Update: Cover Videos

While checking out your favorite business or personal pages on Facebook, you may have noticed something a bit out of the ordinary as of late. You’re not imagining moving images — quite the contrary. The always-evolving social media platform recently released cover videos, which is an option outside of the static cover photo that lives on the top of both personal and business pages.

This is part of a 2017 push for more video content that Facebook announced late last year. In addition to announcing more prime visibility for businesses that post videos, the platform also announced that it will be producing original video content — similar to that of Amazon, YouTube, and BuzzFeed.

Big Changes For Google AdWords Users!

The top-ranking search engine unveiled updates to its ad layout last month, most notably, completely removing all right-side ads.

What Changes Will You Notice?

Now users see four ads on the top of Google AdWords. Also, three text ads show at the bottom of the search engine results page (SERP), and the number of text ads decreased from a max of 11 to a max of seven.

Google’s update makes the desktop experience reflect a mobile user’s view by compacting visuals from advertisers.

Why Did Google Change the AdWords User Experience?

The Mountain View-based giant released a statement about the changes and said, it’s “designed for highly commercial queries where the layout can provide more relevant results for people searching and better performance for advertisers.”

It clarified the definition of highly commercial queries as “the types of searches where people express a deep intention to buy. We’ve been testing this layout for a long time, so some people might see it on a very small number of commercial queries.”

3 Quick Tips for Tweeting Like the Pros!

(1) Listen to your audience. Twitter can get noisy at times, but if you hone in on what your audience is saying, you can learn a lot about what folks like and dislike about your product. Do you see a tweet that signals a need for your services? Be conversational and let them know you can help!

(2) Follow lots of people, but be smart about it. BCCM social media experts follow users in our client’s target demographic as well as people we feel would be a great brand ambassador. For instance, we may follow a popular tax expert for our CPA client and even though she wouldn’t be looking for his services particularly; she may RT our content lending us to a greater following. The greater your presence, the better!

(3) Don’t be a salesperson. You should never interrupt the “social” experience with a pushy sales speech. Do tweet blog articles you’ve written, local happenings and events, and share your knowledge with your following.  You want to be seen as the expert in your industry, while also being truly authentic.

Case Study: McMurray Stern

BCCM initially met with storage solutions provider McMurray Stern, Inc. in October, 2012, to provide an estimate for an upgrade to their existing website. McMurray Stern was extremely open to many of our suggestions concerning website branding and content structure, and it wasn’t long before our discussions evolved into a full-fledged online lead generation strategy.

CHALLENGE

Our main challenge was that McMurray Stern had not previously engaged in marketing online and had little to no presence. They wanted to create an all encompassing platform to help support their internal sales efforts and explore new avenues of lead generation. Meet Lindsey, Social Media Chief

Well, hello there! I’m Lindsey, the newest BCCM Social Media Marketing lady. Two months ago, I hopped in my little car and moved to the Sunshine State all the way from Indiana. Here at Big Chief Creative Media, I’ll be managing a handful of our social media accounts. (If you’re lucky enough to get me as your account manager, I’m sure we’ll have some fun!) I’m passionate about marketing and know how vital it is for a business to be successful.

The greatest aspect of social media marketing can also be the scariest; which is the ability for your customers to openly, and sometimes loudly, profess their thoughts about your brand. Most of the time it’s positive (yay!) and sometimes it can be negative (Boo!). What’s great is that you have raw and direct feedback from you customers, prospects, and peers. From there, you can hone in on your strengths, and alter the aspects that aren’t congruent with your customer base. A win-win in my book.

What’s unique to me about marketing through social media is the ability to let your brands personality really shine, which can be an important advantage over your competitor. When potential customers engage with your brand via social media, the likelihood that they’ll purchase from you is exponentially increased.
